The battle for a Champions League qualification in the Italian Serie A continues.
On Saturday night AC Milan welcomes Napoli in an important clash between two of the strongest contenders for a place in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
Napoli are currently 3rd in the Serie A with 41 points won, while Lazio and Milan follow with 40 and 37 points respectively. But we should note that Milan still have a game in hand, so they remain a very strong contender for a place among the first three teams in the league.
Napoli found their best form in the last few weeks. Maurizio Sarri’s boys won four of their last five games and didn’t lose neither once. The Azzurri are still in a position to attack the first place as well, because they falling just four points behind the leader Juventus.
Milan on the other hand lost two points against Torino in the last round of the Serie A. Enzo Montella’s team won just two of its last five games in the league, which is the reason why the Rossoneri need to start winning again on a consistent basis.
Milan will be without the services of the injured Ricardo Montolivo and Mattia De Sciglio, while Alessio Romagnoli and Manuel Locatelli are suspended for the clash at the Stadio San Siro. Andrea Poli is doubtful for the game, while the good news for Enzo Montella come from Matias Fernandez’ recovery from injury.
Napoli’s new star Arkadiusz Milik is training again after a three months lay-off, but he’s still not ready to play as he’d need some more time on the training pitch. Kalidou Koulibaly is also still recovering from his latest injury.
In August Napoli scored four times against Milan and took a spectacular 4-2 win against the Rossoneri. Now Enzo Montella’s team will have the chance to avenge the loss and get back closer to the Champions
