It’s time for the first big derby in the Spanish La Liga for this season. Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are facing each other at the Camp Nou and you can be sure that everyone will be watching.
The last time Barcelona graced the Camp Nou didn’t went too well for the Catalan giant. Luis Enrique’s team was shockingly beaten by newcomers Alaves, which allowed their biggest rivals Real Madrid to take the top after four games being played. During the weekend Barca redeemed themselves against Leganes, scoring five goals away from home, but they are still three points behind The Los Blancos.
Atletico Madrid on the other hand didn’t start very well the new season in La Liga. Diego Simeone’s boys didn’t win neither one of their first two games in the league, but they started to find their rhythm, winning two consecutive times against Celta and Sporting Gijon.
It won’t be a big surprise to say that Barcelona will rely once again on the deadly trio Messi - Suarez - Neymar. The three strikers played together for first time during the loss against Alaves, but only after Messi and Suarez started on the bench. Supported by Andres Iniesta, Sergio Busquets and Ivan Rakitic, the famous MSN trio will have to break Atletico’s almost unbreakable defense.
Atletico Madrid showed some great scoring ability against Sporting Gijon during the weekend. Los Colchoneros’ biggest star Antoine Griezmann showed his worth, scoring two times, with Kevin Gameiro and Fernando Torres also finding the opponent’s net. We will see if they are able to repeat this kind of performance against a powerhouse like Barcelona.
Prediction: Barcelona are usually facing problems against teams with the deffensive discipline of Atletico. It won’t be the first time if Los Colchoneros take something from Barcelona, so don’t be surprised if we see this kind of scenario. Our tip is to avoid picking a winner in this clash. We expect to see some solid defending from Atletico, so you could try Under 2.5 goals or why not Under 0.5 goals at half-time.
